NAME: Emily Hearth
DESCRIPTION OF ART: Mostly sewing and crochet with resuscitated materials.
YEARS PRODUCING: Since about age 12 (23 years).
INSPIRATION BEHIND WORK: I like to let my materials inspire me. I work mostly with materials that are discarded by friends, relatives or strangers, found in thrift shops, recycled clothing, etc. (though I rarely purchase them). I am also inspired by history and homemade crafts though the ages, nature, love, and my children.
INTRODUCTION TO MEDIUM:My mother taught me the basics of sewing and embroidery, and how to thread and use the sewing machine. My Granny taught me how to crochet (when I asked her to teach me to knit... she preferred it). The rest is in my blood.
DREAM PROJECT: A gallery show of my creations in large scale... I'm not sure what I would make, but it would be BIG.
